As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I especially welcome the opportunity to work with LGBTQ+ individuals who feel culturally and/or religiously marginalized. With 3+ years of experience as a spiritual director, working with those in the queer community, I sit with individuals who identify as and/or are experiencing:

coming out

trans and non-binary

gender questioning

self image

religious trauma

religious and spiritual abuse

reclaiming spirituality

deconstruction

leaving religion

I care deeply about sitting with LGBTQ+ persons of faith, and Saguaro Roots Spiritual Direction desires to be that safe, brave space for you to explore your spirituality alongside your queerness.

Wherever you are, you will be met right there.

what i don’t do…

use shame as a tool

You will never be met with shame here. Shame is not a tool for transformation.

conversion therapy

Conversion Therapy is abuse. l will not sit with those who are processing how to de-queer their child. We don’t do that here. Any attempt to convert a person from their identified gender or sexuality is harmful and abusive. We will not refer you to a therapist who practices Conversion Therapy.

hold to an agenda

Aside from growing in your spiritual journey and loving yourself even more, I have no hidden agenda for your journey. I simply feel humbled and honored to have been invited alongside you.

what i do…

love

You will be seen in a posture of affirmation, non-judgement, met with compassion, genorosity, and love.

sit with you

I will sit in your emotional discomfort. I understand that growth requires discomfort and that transformation does not take place in our comfort zones. I will encourage you to press into your current season through prompts and open-ended questions.

listen

Mostly, I will be listening. A lot. In spiritual direction, you should be able to outwardly wrestle with God/The Divine/Universe/Yourself. To say the things that you might normally only say in your own head. To cry, scream, cuss (yes, even the F-bomb!), and doubt! - only to be met with a listening heart, love, and someone who will hold space for you on your journey.
